Last Chance U stars who are in training camp with NFL teams
These former Last Chance U stars are fighting for their dreams in NFL training camps around the league.
The Netflix series Last Chance U has given us a deep inside look at junior college football for the last four years. We have seen these guys shine and struggle on and off of the field as they look to get their football careers back on track, with every player having dreams of eventually making it to the NFL.
In the first to seasons of Last Chance U, Netflix cameras followed East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi, a perennial powerhouse in the JUCO ranks. Under controversial head coach Buddy Stephens, EMCC consistently showcases elite-level talent and commonly dominated their opponents.
For the last two seasons, the show has focused on Independence Community College in Independence, Kansas. ICC head coach Jason Brown is a brash, confident and even more controversial guy whose no-nonsense demeanor received plenty of scrutiny.
ICC had a lot of success under Brown, but they were not the same kind of powerhouse program as EMCC. We saw Brown’s ICC program fall apart in season four of Last Chance U and he was eventually asked to step down after making insensitive remarks to a student-athlete.
Throughout all four seasons, the coaching staffs have been a major part of the Last Chance U story, but the core of the show is the lives of these incredibly talented players who are looking to make the most out of their abilities. While the careers of many of these players have not worked out as they hoped, there have been some nice success stories.
With NFL training camps opening up throughout the league, we are going to take a look at the players from the series who have at least started to realize their NFL dreams. While there will likely be more success stories to follow in the next few years, there are only four Last Chance U players who are competing in NFL training camps this summer. Let’s take a look at who these players are and what kind of chance each has to make the regular-season roster.
