2. Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon

In the NFL, if you do not have a legitimate franchise quarterback, you simply do not have a chance. Teams know this and that is why the quarterback position dominates the top part of the draft every year. As of now, there are two quarterbacks who are clear candidates to go number one overall in 2020. Up first, Justin Herbert out of Oregon.

Despite being a likely top ten pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Herbert surprisingly decided to go back to Oregon for his senior season. Now, Herbert will be in a position to dominate the college game and cement himself as a top two or three pick next year.

Herbert’s raw talent explodes off the screen when watching his tape. He is a mobile quarterback who can escape the pocket with easy speed and athleticism. Herbert also showcases an explosive arm, easily making throws to all levels of the field.

The senior quarterback also shows great accuracy and overall ball placement, consistently hitting his targets in stride and making the most out of all opportunities. His on-field decision making can be spotty at times, but for the most part, Herbert has a good head on his shoulders and does not play loose with the ball.

Herbert stands out as an impressive quarterback prospect who has a real chance to be the first overall selection next year. Quarterback needy teams will have their eyes on Herbert this season, and if one of them happens to pick first, he will certainly be heavily in the discussion.
