2020 NFL Draft: Five players who will contend for the No. 1 overall pick
4. Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
A wide receiver going first overall in the NFL draft is extremely rare. In fact, wide receivers have only gone with the first overall pick three times in the entire history of the draft and it has not happened since the New York Jets took Keyshawn Johnson number one in 1996.
However, with the increased importance of the passing game, the wide receiver position has proved to be more important in recent years. It would still take an elite-level prospect to make it happen, but I think we are ripe for a wide receiver to go number one again soon. Alabama wide receiver Jerry Jeudy just might be our guy.
Jeudy was an absolute star last season, piling up 68 receptions for 1,315 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is undoubtedly the best wide receiver prospect in recent memory and should be a top-five pick next year.
Jeudy is a long and lean wide receiver who possesses elite speed, quickness and agility at the position. He separates from the defensive back with ease and will enter the NFL as arguably the best run after catcher receiver in the entire league. Jeudy is an absolute menace in the open field, consistently creating extra yardage after the catch.
He also runs crisp routes and catches the ball extremely well. Jeudy consistently catches the ball away from his body and can make spectacular catches in traffic.
Simply put, Jeudy has it all at the wide receiver position. If the right team ends up picking number one, he could undoubtedly be the top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
