NFL rumors: 5 possible landing spots for Mike Daniels
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the teams that have already reached out to Daniels, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Kansas City made a few big moves along their defensive line in the offseason. They traded Dee Ford to the 49ers, let Justin Houston go, and traded for Frank Clark.
Even with those moves, the defense still has a lot of holes. The line still has Chris Jones, who is one of the better defensive tackles in the game right now. Pairing Clark with him will be fun to watch. But imagine adding a bowling ball in Daniels to that pairing. Having Daniels in there will make things much more difficult for offensive lines, effectively eliminating the ability to double anyone.
Adding him would also bring a boost to the run defense, which ranked 27th in 2018, giving up 132.1 yards per game on the ground.
The Chiefs are in win-now mode with quarterback Patrick Mahomes on his rookie contract, and have plenty of cap space to sign Daniels, even to a multi-year deal if they desire. He would make their line lethal, and bring enough help to improve their unit in 2019.
