Who could pounce and sign Mike Daniels after the Green Bay Packers released him?

The Green Bay Packers made a shocking move just hours into the day players moved in for training camp. They announced that they would be releasing defensive lineman Mike Daniels, who has been a staple on their defensive line for several seasons.

This move is cap-based, in that cutting him now will open up cap space for 2020, where the Packers have several decisions to make, especially regarding defensive lineman Kenny Clark and offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga.

Daniels shouldn’t be a free agent for long. Even as health is a question (he played in just 10 games last season), Daniels has been a productive three technique for the Packers. He’s excellent at plugging gaps and displacing offensive linemen, and brings some juice as a rusher. In fact, Pro Football Focus gave him a high pressure grade last season, and over the last four seasons, he has the 8th best pass rush grade in the NFL.

Daniels has expressed his wishes to play for a contender, and plenty of teams have already inquired. Where could Daniels be playing in 2019? Here are five teams that make the most sense for Daniels as training camps get underway.
