6. New York Jets: Jamal Adams, S, LSU

Original Pick: Adams

I strongly considered changing this pick for the New York Jets. There were certainly worthy defenders and offensive playmakers still left on the board. However, when push came to shove, I believe that Jamal Adams would still be the pick for the Jets at number six.

Adams is a tough and physical safety who has helped give the Jets’ defense a certain attitude. Their overall defensive production has been spotty, but the Jets have shown some legitimate promise on that side of the ball and Adams is a major reason why.

Adams is an absolute madman on the football field, flying all over the place to make plays against the run and the pass. He excels as a short zone safety and can handle man responsibilities against most tight ends, running backs and slot receivers. On top of that, he is a fantastic run defender who is never afraid to come up and lay a shot on the ball carrier.

With Adams on the defense and Sam Darnold on offense, the Jets have legitimate cornerstone players to build around on each side of the ball. With their new front office coming in to fill out the rest of the roster, the Jets are clearly a team on the rise. If given the choice, I do not think the Jets change anything here. Adams is their guy.
