The Buffalo Bills should be ecstatic about the phenomenal group of wide receivers expected to be in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Make no mistake about it, the Buffalo Bills are a team on the rise. General manager Brandon Beane and his staff have done an incredible job of building their roster the last couple of years and head coach Sean McDermott appears to be building a strong culture in the locker room.

A huge part of the Bills’ long-term success will depend on the growth of quarterback Josh Allen. He played well as a rookie, showing real upside as a mobile quarterback with a rocket arm. Allen undoubtedly has to work on his accuracy and consistency in order to reach his full potential, but so far, so good.

To help him reach his peak, the Bills must start building with impact talent around Allen. They did a nice job of addressing their ugly offensive line situation this offseason, and Allen should now be able to operate without consistently running for his life. That is a step in the right direction.

However, the Bills still need to find him a quality group of pass catchers to work with.

The Buffalo Bills enter the 2019 season with guys like John Brown, Robert Foster, Zay Jones and Cole Beasley expected to see the majority of the snaps at receiver. There is certainly some talent and upside in that group, but all of those guys are secondary targets at best. The Bills need to find Allen a true number one receiver to grow with. Luckily for Buffalo, the 2020 NFL Draft is absolutely loaded at the wide receiver.

Jerry Jeudy out of Alabama stands out as the top wide receiver prospect who is expected to enter the 2020 NFL Draft. He is a future NFL star in the making. However, considering Jeudy is likely going to be a top-five selection, if the Bills are in a position to draft him, the 2019 season went very wrong.

Jeudy is fantastic, but he is not going to be the only first-round worthy pass catcher in the upcoming draft class. Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb is a smooth and methodical route runner who can create separation and is fantastic in contested catch situations. Colorado’s Laviska Shenault is an incredibly versatile player who shows a ridiculous combination of size, speed and power. Jeudy’s teammate Henry Ruggs III is the fastest player in college football and has the total package to become a complete wide receiver.

We could legitimately go on and on and on. When it comes down to it, this is the best class of wide receivers that we have seen in years. The Buffalo Bills have an obvious need at the position and should easily be able to find Allen a receiver with legitimate number one ability and upside in the 2020 NFL Draft.

This team is close to getting back to becoming real contenders in the AFC. Landing a legitimate number one target in the passing game just might be the final piece that could take them over the top.
