4. Signing Trent Brown

Despite being the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history when he signed with the Oakland Raiders in free agency, Browns still proudly carries the ‘underdog’ label.

The Raiders signed Brown and moved him back to the right tackle position, a position he’s familiar with even though he excelled playing left tackle with the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots.

Even though, like Tom Brady, Derek Carr gets the ball out of his hand relatively quickly, Brown’s ability to pass protect is the reason he was brought in to Oakland and it is the reason he was paid so much money.

His presence at right tackle gives the Raiders what they believe to be a great pair of bookends with last year’s first-round pick Kolton Miller on the left side.

Brown was a massive addition in terms of his pay grade but addressing the tackle position was an absolute necessity for the Raiders.
