5. Drafting Johnathan Abram

Why did the Oakland Raiders draft Johnathan Abram? You can see it in this long video of him mic’d up at a practice.

His passion for the game of football is basically unmatched.

There’s no doubt the Raiders drafted Abram because he’s a great player but Mike Mayock hand-picked this kid — who plays the same position Mayock played — to be a leader in the defensive backfield and in the locker room.

Abram is the type of player who can galvanize a unit when things are going poorly, and he’s the type of player other teams will hate to play against when things are going well for the Raiders.

He wins mentally and if you’re not paying attention, he’s going to clean your clock, too.
