Miami Dolphins: 3 UDFAs who could make an immediate impact
Preston Williams, WR, Colorado State
Colorado State wide receiver Preston Williams is probably the most talented and exciting undrafted free agent that the Miami Dolphins brought into the mix. Williams was an absolute monster in college, picking on opposing cornerbacks with an impressive combination of size, speed and overall athleticism.

He is a true deep receiver who can win with raw speed and does a nice job of tracking the ball in the air. He uses his size and length well in jump ball situations, commonly finding a way to come down with 50/50 balls. He is also a surprisingly efficient route runner for a receiver of his size, showing enough short-area quickness to create space against man coverage. Williams also has some nice run after catch upside.
Williams did disappoint at his Pro Day, putting up less than stellar athletic testing numbers. There are also character concerns here that will put him on a short leash. All of that being said, Williams’ tape was awfully impressive and he undoubtedly has real starting upside at the next level if he can keep his nose clean.
The Miami Dolphins are not exactly loaded with playmakers at wide receiver. There will be an opportunity for a guy like Williams to come in and compete for a roster spot. All he has to do is step up and show what he can do.
