Houston Texans: 3 UDFAs who could make an immediate impact
Karan Higdon, RB, Michigan
Undrafted rookie running backs seem to have the easiest path to success early in their careers. It is such an undervalued position in today’s NFL that teams commonly let talented backs slip to the later rounds and even go undrafted. Phillip Lindsay with the Denver Broncos is the perfect example of this. Personally, I think Karan Higdon has a chance to be this year’s Lindsay and make an immediate impact for the Houston Texans.

Higdon is a classic one-cut back who will fit in perfectly with the Texans. He is a smart player who shows impressive ball carrier vision, has enough quickness to get to the hole, enough burst to run through the hole and consistently finishes strong with low pad level and power.
Higdon is not the kind of back who is going to try to win with elusiveness. He gets downhill in a hurry and does not shy away from contact. On top of that, he is an extremely instinctual player who shows the ability to consistently find the right hole.
Simply put, Karan Higdon is a rock-solid downhill power back who brings some dependability to the backfield. The Houston Texans have a solid running back duo with Lamar Miller and D’Onta Foreman, but they are not exactly irreplaceable. There is certainly a path to early playing time for Higdon and I like his chances of coming in and having success.
