The New York Giants have two first-round picks after the Odell Beckham Jr. trade. How will Dave Gettleman and Pat Shurmur attack the 2019 NFL Draft?

The New York Giants didn’t re-sign Odell Beckham Jr. to trade him, but they did trade him after re-signing him when they got an offer they deemed too good to pass up on.

The entirety of the Giants’ offseason has been hidden in the dark shadow of the giant cloud the Beckham trade has put over the top of the organization.

That trade combined with the loss of Landon Collins and the team’s assertion that Eli Manning is still good, has everyone wondering what in the world Dave Gettleman and Pat Shurmur are going to do to right the ship.

After their flurry of moves to start the offseason the Giants’ top needs are on the offensive line (at right tackle), one the edge defensively, and at the quarterback position, where an heir to Eli Manning’s apparent throne is a necessity.

Key additions (so far)

  • OG Kevin Zeitler
  • SS Jabrill Peppers
  • WR Golden Tate
  • OLB Markus Golden
  • FS Antoine Bethea

Key losses

  • WR Odell Beckham Jr.
  • SS Landon Collins
  • DE Olivier Vernon
  • OG Jamon Brown
  • CB BW Webb
  • DL Mario Edwards
  • DL Josh Mauro

Top Needs

  • Edge defender
  • Right tackle
  • Quarterback
  • Cornerback
  • Linebacker

The Giants head into the 2019 NFL Draft with two first-round picks, three within the top 37, and then a long delay before their third-round selection (95th overall). They own 12 picks overall right now, but will have to find franchise players with their top two picks in this class, especially after trading a superstar like Odell Beckham.

Which players should they be targeting? Let’s take a look.
