The New York Giants might as well have a huge question mark as their team logo right now, because no one knows what their direction is.

What in the world are the New York Giants doing?

General manager Dave Gettleman and head coach Pat Shurmur are hopefully on the same page right now, but the Giants don’t appear to be on their way to greener pastures with the way they are building their roster right now.

Gettleman has been making questionable moves in recent years as a general manager, both with the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants.

With the Panthers, Gettleman had a huge issue with Josh Norman, who was franchise tagged and then released from the tag late in the offseason before he ultimately signed a long-term deal with the Washington Redskins.

Beyond that fiasco, Gettleman has used his last two first-round picks (both top 10 selections) on the running back position. Granted, he’s drafted two really good players with those picks in Christian McCaffrey (Panthers) and Saquon Barkley (Giants), but generally it’s unwise to use that high of a selection in the NFL Draft on the running back position.

That’s perhaps a different story for a different day.

Just before the start of the 2018 season, the Giants signed Odell Beckham Jr. to a five-year, $90 million extension. At the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine, Gettleman now infamously proclaimed the Giants didn’t re-sign Beckham just to trade him amidst rumors floating around.

We all know what happened there.

If things don’t get better in New York rather quickly, it’s all going to fall back on Gettleman. He’s the guy in the spotlight making moves right now, so what in the world is he up to?

Let’s recap the Giants’ moves so far through the first couple of waves of free agency.
