Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma

If it’s not obvious at this point, I don’t know what more the Cardinals are going to have to do or say to telegraph the first overall selection in the 2019 NFL Draft being Oklahoma’s Kyler Murray.

The 2018 Heisman Trophy winner followed up Baker Mayfield’s stellar career with the Sooners by lighting up everyone Oklahoma played against, including a phenomenal second half performance against Alabama in the CFB Playoff.

Murray has an elite combination of athleticism, speed, and arm talent, but he’s a unique package.

Specifically, Murray would be one of the smallest quarterbacks in the NFL (certainly in terms of his height).

At 5-foot-10, 200-plus pounds, Murray’s size at his age compares favorably to Russell Wilson when he was 21. If Murray’s going to avoid injury in the NFL, though, it’s going to be how well he avoids contact on a consistent basis, not based on his size in my opinion.

I think Murray has the highest ceiling of any player in this year’s draft class. He’s an absolute stud with accuracy, great pocket movement, escape-ability, elite speed in the open field, and great vision with the football.

Murray’s background as a baseball player is an indicator of the type of natural athlete he is.

He would be the first athlete ever selected in the first round of the MLB Draft and NFL Draft.
