Jacksonville Jaguars first-round targets after signing Nick Foles
TJ Hockenson, TE, Iowa
There hasn’t been a tight end selected in the top 10 of the NFL draft since Eric Ebron went 10th in 2014, and none have gone as high as the Jaguars pick at seven overall since Vernon Davis way back in 2006. That being said, maybe we’re due an early tight end selection.
Jacksonville has been desperately trying to find an impact tight end for years now. They have tried and failed to fill the hole in free agency over the last few seasons and have only drafted one tight end in the first three rounds in the team’s history (Marcedes Lewis went 28th in 2006). In fact, it can be argued that they have never had a true impact tight end.
One name that could finally be the answer to the Jags longtime woes at the position is TJ Hockenson.
While teammate Noah Fant got most of the hype during the 2018 season, Hockenson slowly started turning heads with his impressive performance. He has the size, athleticism and well-rounded skill set of a modern NFL tight end that is highly coveted by teams in today’s league.
With the addition of Foles, who enjoyed throwing to his talented tight ends in Philly, this move would make complete sense for a team looking to find a new identity on the offensive side of the ball.
