Offensive Line Moves

JR Sweezy, Marcus Gilbert, & Max Garcia

The Cardinals signed Justin Pugh to a big contract last offseason but ended to add some more pieces this offseason and they have accomplished just that.

The first move Arizona made was to trade for right tackle Marcus Gilbert from the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the best right tackles in the game when healthy.

Unfortunately, good health has been hard to come by for Gilbert, and really that’s been the case for all of Arizona’s offensive line pickups here.

Gilbert played just 12 games over the past two seasons, but he will pencil in as the starting right tackle in Arizona next to the right guard Pugh.

The Cardinals signed a couple of versatile interior linemen beyond that in JR Sweezy and Max Garcia.

Sweezy is a familiar player who spent the majority of his NFL career in Seattle along with a brief stint in Tampa Bay.

Garcia spent the past four years in Denver where he was a starter at left guard.

Both players were signed to modest contracts, so starting positions might not be guaranteed there, but one is likely to start at left guard this season.
