2019 NFL Draft: DK Metcalf’s insane workout numbers
Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf turned in one of the greatest Scouting Combine workouts you will ever see. We have some highlights.
The entire NFL world is going to be buzzing after Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf’s insane Scouting Combine workout.
Everyone was already freaking out over Metcalf’s ridiculous physique, but now teams picking in the top 10 of the 2019 NFL Draft are going to be jockeying and competing for his services.
Metcalf’s workout at the 2019 combine is one for the ages, truly. He is one of the most incredible athletes you will ever see at the event. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.
Weigh-in
Height: 6-3 3/8
Weight: 228 pounds
Hands: 9 7/8
Wingspan: 82 7/8 (6-foot-11)
Receivers with this kind of frame and wingspan are not overly uncommon, but what is to follow certainly is…
40-yard dash: 4.33
Imagine having the frame of a linebacker, the wingspan of an NFL power forward, and speed that would compete with the fastest players in the NFL today.
This is where a Calvin Johnson type of comparison could come into play.
Metcalf isn’t close to Johnson’s 6-foot-5, 240-pound frame, but he has the same type of combination of ridiculous measurables along with elite track speed, virtually unparalleled for a player of this size.
Vertical Jump: 40.5 inches

Oh and just in case anyone was wondering, this kid can jump out of the gym.
Broad Jump: 11’2″
This drill measures explosiveness, and Metcalf is certainly explosive. Anything over 10 feet is impressive regardless of position, but for a wide receiver this is a huge number.
DK Metcalf’s updated stock
There’s no doubt Metcalf is going to get picked in the top 10 at this point, but which team is going to take a shot on him?
The New York Jets need an alpha at the receiver position to go with Sam Darnold.
How about the Oakland Raiders at four? They need a receiver and Jon Gruden grew up in the NFL world with Al Davis as his boss. Perhaps Gruden will channel his inner Davis and take a shot on Metcalf.
There are a number of teams who need an explosive receiver in this year’s draft and Metcalf has firmly put himself on the map as the most athletic and ridiculously athletic, at that.
Prior to his performance at the combine, Metcalf was probably going to be a first-round pick regardless but teams aren’t going to let him get out of the top 10 at this point.
