2019 NFL Draft: Kyler Murray’s best fits with NFL teams
Denver Broncos
John Elway is always up to something.
Every rumor this offseason has revolved around the Broncos loving Missouri’s Drew Lock. There has been very little in regards to Denver’s interest in any other quarterback in this year’s class, including Murray.
We’ll see how much that changes in the coming weeks.
The Broncos acquired Joe Flacco in a trade from the Baltimore Ravens. His base contract is not guaranteed on their end, so the Broncos are now in an ideal position to draft a quarterback high.
Either Flacco works out and plays the whole season, or he proves to be average or even below average and justifies the team putting a rookie on the field.
Sounds a bit like last season with the Ravens, right?
Flacco was replaced last year by Lamar Jackson, and Murray is a far better pro prospect than Jackson was but he has the same type of dynamic skill set. He’s a vastly different player than Flacco but his situation might resonate with Elway, who was also in a rare position to be able to play pro baseball or football at one point in time.
Maybe those two will bond in the coming weeks leading up to the NFL Draft.
Murray would be a bold investment for Elway, who has claimed publicly he’s not done ‘swinging’ for quarterbacks.
