Washington Redskins Deliver Another Strong Draft
By Craig Stofko
ROUND THREE: BRETT RYPIEN, QB, Fresno State
Rypien is consistently rated as the 5th or 6th best QB in this draft. He does not have Drew Lock’s arm strength or Kyler Murray’s elusiveness. He’s not as tall as Daniel Jones and might not possess the all-around potential of Dwayne Haskins. But, he is the only four-year starter among the group. I like Colt McCoy.
I love him as a backup. As a starter, I’m a little less enthusiastic. I’m not questioning his talent but rather his ability to play 16 games without getting hurt. Everyone loves to sit rookie QBs for a year and for good reason. Unfortunately, I’m not sure the ‘Skins are going to have that luxury. I think our rookie QB is going to have to take the field at some point.
Rypien’s experience will invaluable and for that reason I think he’s a very smart pick in the middle of the third round. 81% of the simulations have him available with the 76th pick in the draft.
