ROUND TWO: DALTON RISNER, OL, Kansas State

The Redskins have to make plugging the hole at left guard a priority. This guy fits the bill. He’s big, strong, and mean. No player had more variation during the simulations than Risner and that was perplexing to say the least. He went everywhere from the end of the first round to the beginning of the fifth. So, it might be tempting to hold off and try to get him in the third.

Also, there were some other very strong LG candidates available on most of the mocks but none with the versatility of Risner. His athleticism has been called into question and he is, admittedly, a better run blocker than he is in pass protection. But, the guy can play either guard spot, center, and right tackle.

Considering what has happened to the Redskins O-line the last two seasons I wasn’t willing to risk losing such a valuable asset. The fact that he is an absolute mauler in the run game makes this a solid pick. He’s a day one starter at a position that has been broken forever for an offense that is going run Guice and Anderson until their legs fall off.
