Trubisky is setting himself up for a massive new contract in 2020. He’s already taken his team to the playoffs, gone to a Pro Bowl, and set a franchise record for highest passer rating in a season. Ryan Pace no doubt has the date circled on his calendar for when he’ll start discussing an extension. Still, it’s way too early to determine price. A lot can still happen, both good and bad within the next two years. The Bears GM has shown many times he will not act until he has a firm understanding of where the value of a player is. Trubisky’s is still forming.

Great quarterbacks, in my mind, need two things in order to become who they are. They need talent and a maniacal work ethic. Simply being an athlete isn’t enough. You have to put in the many hours of extra time required to become superior to the other great athletes in this league. Trubisky has shown he has both. He’s a mobile athlete with a good arm who can throw with timing and accuracy. Throw in a work ethic that has him first to practice and last to leave and it feels like only a matter of time before he rises to challenge the current kingpins of the NFC.
