My top target by a wide margin would be Landon Collins. He’s the best safety on the market and an instant upgrade over Adrian Amos. A perfect compliment as a strong safety to Eddie Jackson at free safety. Just imagining those two Alabama studs on the back end of this defense warms the cockles. However, if the Giants decide to franchise tag him, my personal target would be Mark Golden. I think he’d be a tremendous addition to the outside linebacker spot as a #3 pass rusher.

Smart business sense points to Amos because he’s two years younger than Callahan and also safeties tend to cost a bit less than cornerbacks. However, in this case, I would say Callahan because I think the Bears have a greater chance of finding an upgrade to Amos on the open market. Free agency this year is flooded with talented safeties. If the Bears are willing to be aggressive, they’d almost certainly find somebody who can make more of an impact than Amos.
