The AAF quarterbacks: Taking a look at the league’s 8 starters
Memphis Express: Christian Hackenberg
College: Penn State
AAF coach: Mike Singletary (HC) // David Lee (QBs)
Christian Hackenberg is considered one of the biggest disappointments in recent memory at the quarterback position after a tremendous start to his college career at Penn State.
As a true freshman, he had 20 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions but completely fell off the map over the next two seasons.
Despite his struggles as a sophomore and junior, Hackenberg left school early and wound up getting picked in the second round by the New York Jets.
He flamed out rather quickly with the Jets, and got looks from the Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, and Cincinnati Bengals before ending up with Mike Singletary and the Memphis Express.
Hackenberg is a big name, but expectations should be pretty low at this point. Shockingly, he will be just 23 when he starts his first game for the Express and turns 24 on Valentine’s Day.
The upside has always been there with Hackenberg, and so far, no one has been able to extract it.
