Atlanta Legends: Matt Simms

College: Tennessee

AAF coach: Michael Vick (offensive coordinator)

Like the upset in Arizona with John Wolford beating out Trevor Knight for the starting job, the competition in Atlanta between Matt Simms and Aaron Murray was not expected to go Simms’ way.

Simms didn’t have a very good college career, but has NFL bloodlines with his father Phil Simms and brother Chris Simms having played NFL ball.

Despite his lack of success in college, Simms was given a shot with the New York Jets, and managed to float around the NFL from 2012-2017 where he spent time with the Jets, Buffalo Bills, and Atlanta Falcons.

Many expect Murray, a former starter at Georgia, to get a chance to start at some point and the Legends have undergone some major changes in the early goings of the franchise with Brad Childress no longer the team’s head coach.

It will be fascinating to see what kind of offense Mike Vick runs with the legends.
