It’s becoming more and more likely that the New Orleans Saints may end up losing Teddy Bridgewater to free agency in 2019. The status of the market makes it almost certain that he’ll be in high demand from QB-needy teams, leaving the backup situation for the Saints in question. Never mind their ongoing quest to find a successor to Drew Brees. While this move isn’t as strong as the one for Bridgewater, it at least would solve the first issue.

Jacoby Brissett is entering the final year of his contract with the Indianapolis Colts. With Andrew Luck firmly back under center as the starter, Brissett’s future there is purely as a backup. However, by coming to New Orleans he would serve that role with a far greater chance of earning a shot at the starting job whenever Brees retires. Not to mention his experience would be most welcome for New Orleans at that #2 spot.
