Ronald Darby (CB)

Bears nickel corner Bryce Callahan will be a free agent. There’s still a possibility the team re-signs him. However, if that’s not the case then they need to think about adding another body to their back end to ensure there’s no drop off in depth. If they’re willing to take a calculated gamble, then one name they should think about is Ronald Darby. For those who don’t recall, he’s a former 2nd round pick of the Buffalo Bills who has spent the past two seasons in Philadelphia.

He’s been a solid corner for most of his career aside from a difficult 2016 season. Quarterbacks had a modest 86.5 passer rating when targeting him this year before he unfortunately tore his ACL in November. That said he’s 25-years old and can be had for cheaper than normal given his credentials. The Bears would be able to move him inside or outside. Vic Fangio has a great track record with cornerback reclamation projects. Ask Kyle Fuller.
