Dez Bryant is set up for success in New Orleans
It took the right situation for Dez Bryant to play in 2018, and going to the New Orleans Saints might be the best option
Dez Bryant finally ended his extended offseason and signed a deal with the New Orleans Saints. Since being cut in April Bryant has turned down opportunities with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns while he searched for the right situation for himself.
When news broke that New Orleans was working out Bryant and two other receivers, it felt like the perfect match from the start.
New Orleans already touts a dynamic offense, averaging 6.2 yards per play, the fifth-most in the NFL.

Michael Thomas is, by far, the Saints’ leading receiver with 70 catches. The four other wide receivers in New Orleans have combined for 38 catches. Running back Alvin Kamara and tight end Benjamin Watson follow Thomas on the receptions list.
While Bryant may not have the ability to create space and get open on every play, he now finds himself with one of greatest quarterbacks of all-time, Drew Brees, a quarterback who can throw receivers open.
Adding Bryant gives the Saints offense another dimension outside of targeting Thomas and changing things up with Kamara and Ingram in the backfield. They finally have an established outside presence with size and decent hands.
As for Bryant, he’ll find himself working against number two corners and while he won’t be the number one receiver he’s likely to get some big-time targets.
If anyone can find ways to get Bryant open, it’s Sean Payton.
We’ll see if Bryant is in game shape and how quickly he can pick up the Saints playbook. He surely has Nov. 29 circled on his calendar, which will be his emotional return to Jerry’s World in Arlington.
