Prediction

This will in all likelihood be a physical encounter between two gritty Big Ten teams. Both are equipped tough defenses, proficient run games, and quarterbacks who can win games in the air if given the opportunity.

More from Big 10

So the little things in this matchup will be the difference. Key items such as field position, penalties, and special teams will all play a part and it has the makings of whichever team makes the more critical mistake first will likely prevail. We mentioned how good Taylor has been within the Wisconsin offense but Michigan running back Karan Higdon has been quietly having a great season also with 582 yards and four straight games of over 100 yards.

Two seasons ago, both teams met in the same setting with both being ranked in the top 10. The result was a 14-7 win for Michigan in a defensive slugfest. I expect the same with this one. Both will have great defensive play however, the better quarterback in this one is Patterson and he has shown in recent weeks that he can make winning plays. His ability to get in a flow early will prompt the Wolverines to a close, hard-fought win.
