Running Backs

Another thing that has me more than a little puzzled is the decision to keep Samaje Perine inactive. It’s possible that the lack of any kind of a power running game in the game against the Colts will finally get Perine suited up and on the field next week. But it does qualify as intriguing that the 5’11 235 pound muscle bound power back is not even being activated on game day.

I’m sure he understands that his next fumble will be his last but pitching the ball to Chris Thompson and running a sweep on a third and one is not a winning recipe.

I’m a huge Chris Thompson fan and Adrian Peterson was a godsend in the absence of Derrius Guice. But, the 5’9 Thompson can not be the bell cow, as he was asked to be against the Colts. Samaje Perine has a role on this team. He can’t fill it if he’s not in pads.

If the Redskins have given up on him and don’t intend to give last year’s leading rusher more opportunities to demonstrate how he became the all-time leading rusher in Oklahoma Sooner history then cut him and move on. As it stands, Perine’s inactive status has me befuddled. Clearly, his services could have been useful against Indianapolis.
