The Buffalo Bills decided not to start Josh Allen week one against the Baltimore Ravens, delaying the inevitable. Their situation is disastrous.

The Buffalo Bills decided to trot out Nathan Peterman for their week one matchup against one of the best defenses in the NFL, and it ended predictably. Rookie quarterback Josh Allen took over late in the game for Peterman, and it’s doubtful Peterman will play in the NFL ever again.

In his three NFL starts, Peterman has completed 29-of-67 passes (43.3 percent) with two touchdowns and a whopping seven interceptions.

Now, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Josh Allen will start for the Buffalo Bills in a week two matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Unlike last season, it doesn’t appear the Bills are poised to really overachieve like they did with the crew they had in 2017 that was expected to be one of the worst teams in the league and wound up making the playoffs.

Peterman was not going to be a long-term solution for the Bills, and the team tried and failed with free agent acquisition A.J. McCarron who ended up in Oakland with the Raiders via trade.

Unfortunately for Allen, he appears to be entering a really tough situation with an offensive skill group that had 83 total rushing yards and 98 total receiving yards.

Allen’s struggles with accuracy continued in his preseason play with the Bills, though he did a good job of making some jaw-dropping throws only he is capable of making.

Allen’s rare arm strength allows him to put the ball in spots deep downfield that other quarterbacks in the NFL simply cannot. He is going to need to be on point if he’s going to help the Bills win any games the rest of the way, as their receiving group looks about as bad as any in the NFL.

Zay Jones led the team with three catches for 26 yards in week one.

The good news for Buffalo is, the offensive line held up quite well against a very tough Baltimore pass rush with only two sacks allowed, but they also had five penalties from their starting linemen.

This first week was a really tough week to judge anything for the Bills because of how bad they started off and how bad Nathan Peterman was, but it doesn’t look like Josh Allen is taking over a great situation at all.
