A major blow has been dealt to the Tennessee Titans offense this weekend
Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker is likely to miss the entire season with an ankle injury, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Walker was taken off the field Sunday with an air cast on his right ankle in Tennessee’s 27-20 loss to Miami.
Rapoport says Walker was diagnosed with a dislocated ankle and an associated fracture. While the Titans haven’t officially ruled Walker out for the season, this type of injury would likely result in him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Walker received a two-year contract extension in July that keeps him in Tennessee through the 2020 season. He carries an $8.87 million cap hit, per Spotrac, this year but will miss out on nearly a quarter-million dollars worth of game bonuses.
Last year Walker had his fourth-consecutive 800-yard season and appeared in all 16 games.

Tennessee drafted Jonnu Smith in the third-round last year, so while Walker’s absence will hurt it opens a door for the young tight end Smith to take over.
Smith caught 18 passes last year for 157 yards and two touchdowns his rookie year, and had one catch for 12 yards against Miami.
Tennessee also saw quarterback Marcus Mariota go down several times including after a late hit. He was listed with a hand and elbow injury during the game and was replaced at one point by Blaine Gabbert.
Next week the Titans host the Houston Texans for their first home game of the season as they look for their first win under head coach Mike Vrabel.
