Prediction

There is conference title implications on the line in the second week of the season between these two programs as this can very well be a title game preview. These two teams have met in the conference championship in two of the last three years.

There are two distinctive styles on the offensive side of the ball between both teams. USC has more of a balanced approach with Daniels having plenty of options in St. Brown, Tyler Vaughns, and Michael Pittman Jr. in the passing game while the run game is in great hands with Stephen Carr and Aca’Cedric Ware.

Meanwhile, Stanford’s top option is Love on the ground and the efficiency of quarterback K.J. Costello. Speaking of Costello, he will be dependent on making timely throws with the USC defense likely to stack to the box and make Love a non-factor.

Love had an off night last week and it is imperative that he gets going this week even with a more superior opponent ahead of them. The run defense by USC was alarming last week and that type deficiency can be very costly against a much better opponent in Stanford.
