Prediction

There have been 42 total meetings between these two acclaimed programs with the last meeting coming in 2014. That last meeting was a 31-0 shellacking by Notre Dame to Michigan in South Bend.

A lot has changed since then. For starters, that was a Michigan program that was still trying to find its identity. Under head coach Jim Harbaugh, they have found it. However, they can occasionally stumble but things seem a little different this time around.

The Wolverines are equipped with a defense that is loaded from front to back and that will take a program to considerable length as long as the offense is average at the very least.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is known for his offensive success in the past and will need to devise a plan to attack an excellent defense. Notre Dame receivers Miles Boykin and Chase Claypool will have their work cut out for them as well as the entire offensive line. A hot start is a must for the Irish, even with the clear home-field advantage.

If Michigan sticks to their bread and butter in regards to their run game and their smothering defense, it’s tough to envision Notre Dame keeping up for four full quarters.
