NFL Draft: Every team’s biggest first round bust of last ten years
Dallas has seen their ups and downs in the first round recently, picking up Dez Bryant, Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick, Zack Martin, and Ezekiel Elliott. They’ve also had their fair share of misses with Felix Jones and potentially Taco Charlton if he doesn’t get consistent playing time.
The third notable bust in recent Cowboys history is Mo Claiborne, the sixth-overall pick in 2012 expected to haunt NFC East quarterbacks for the next decade. There’s little to not like about an LSU defensive back, even though he scored a 4 out of 50 on the Wonderlic test because he openly said he didn’t care about it because it had nothing to do with football.

Dallas traded from 14 to 6 with St. Louis, sending their second round picks in return in order to jump Tampa Bay for Claiborne. St. Louis would take Michael Brockers in the first round and swapped the second round pick to Chicago for an additional fifth round pick to move back five spots.
Claiborne started 15 games as a rookie, but only made one interception, but injuries would rag on him early. Injuries to his wrist, hamstring, shoulder, and knee limited him and a torn patellar tendon in 2014 held him out for 12 games. A concussion and groin injury in his final seasons with Dallas left him unretained that spring.
Now healthy, Claiborne is entering year two with the Jets, projecting as the starter across from Trumaine Johnson. Veteran Buster Skrine and rookie Parry Nickerson are lingering behind as well.
