Carolina Panthers

Alabama. Evan Mathis . 5. player. 87. . OG

The Carolina Panthers have actually been really good about finding top offensive linemen throughout most of their history. They simply failed to recognize how good Evan Mathis was before it was too late. Part of this may have been his shaky health as he missed several games as a rookie and in his third year. Still, he was excellent as a starter in 2006.

That wasn’t enough for them. He bounced to Miami and landed in Cincinnati not long after. He played well there but it wasn’t until he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles that teams saw their mistake. He made two Pro Bowls there, earning the tag of being one of the best guards in football. That was further driven home when he helped Denver win the Super Bowl in 2015, against the team that originally drafted him. That must’ve stung for Carolina.
