The Dallas Cowboys could have one of the NFL’s lethal pass rush groups if Randy Gregory is able to reach the potential he’s shown…

If the Dallas Cowboys are unable to put together a top-tier pass rush in 2018, it will not be for a lack of big names or former top prospects.

Tuesday’s big news of Randy Gregory’s reinstatement sort of reinforced that the Cowboys have some players on the edge, and it’s going to be up to defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli to maximize the talent he has at his disposal.

Led by Pro Bowl defensive end and a phenomenal talent in DeMarcus Lawrence, the Cowboys have a solid starting group with Tyrone Crawford, Maliek Collins, and David Irving in the mix.

Behind them, the Cowboys have some talent and players who are going to be expected to step up in 2018. Kony Ealy is a former second-round pick who appeared to be on a very positive trajectory before being released by the New England Patriots and playing 15 games with the Jets.

Taco Charlton is a former first-round pick who will be expected to take a significant leap in year two.

The Cowboys also made a trade with the Raiders for defensive tackle and former high second-round pick Jihad Ward and brought in former Packers first-round pick Datone Jones.

Fourth-round pick Dorance Armstrong was a top-flight edge rusher in the Big 12 with 10 sacks and 20 tackles for loss in his sophomore season at Kansas.

Now you add Randy Gregory back into the mix, and the Cowboys have no shortage of former high draft picks and players with big potential coming out of college.

Gregory has just one sack — which he recorded in 2016 — and has been a complete bust after receiving some top five or top 10 talk when he was in college at Nebraska.

Gregory’s reinstatement could be a huge development for the Cowboys, or it could mean nothing.

Either way, it’s bringing attention to the fact that this team has some intriguing players on the defensive line this season and if it all comes together, they will have some enviable depth.
