A promising prospect for the Cincinnati Bengals is already off the tracks

Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Logan Woodside was arrested early Saturday morning in Kentucky for multiple charges, including DUI.

Woodside was arrested by Bellevue Police at 3:46 a.m. after allegedly driving 10 miles per hour over the speed limit, according to police records.

The 23-year-old was charged with driving 10 miles per hour over the speed limit and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of either drugs or alcohol with a .08 BAC.

Here’s Woodside’s mugshot from police records.

Woodside was projected to compete with Matt Barkley and Jeff Driskel for the Bengals backup quarterback job with the departure of A.J. McCarron during free agency. Drafted 249th out of Toledo, Woodside did not participate in Bengals minicamp Tuesday afternoon after reportedly being available in the morning.

The reigning MAC offensive player of the year threw 28 touchdowns and just eight interceptions for the Rockets with 3,882 passing yards. He left Toledo as the program’s all-time leader in pass attempts (1,166), passing yards (10,514), touchdowns (93), passing efficiency (162.87) and 300-yard games (17).

Considering Woodside nearly went undrafted this news isn’t a major blow to the Bengals plans this year or beyond. The rookie signed a four-year, $2,529,997 contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, including a $69,997 signing bonus.

It’s unlikely the organization, which has a history of taking on troubled players, moves on from Woodside this early in his career. Head coach Marvin Lewis drafted running back Joe Mixon last year despite a recorded domestic violence issue and has kept other players despite suspensions for on and off the field incidents.
