College Football: Running Backs Replacing 2018 NFL Draft Picks
By Talon Graff
San Diego State – Juwan Washington, RS Junior
If you were like me, seeing Rashaad Penny’s name not only being a first-round selection but the second running back off the board was a bit sideswiping. There is no arguing that Penny’s last two years as an Aztec were special and it was enough for the Seattle Seahawks to take him with their first pick.
Washington is coming off a solid year as a reliever to Penny, gaining 759 yards on 127 carries. He reached the end zone seven times on the ground in 2017.

Washington has speed to burn and that showed in his role as a special teamer. In the last two years, he has contributed his efforts to be the primary kick returner for the Aztecs. He returned one kickoff back for a touchdown in 2016 and did it twice more in 2017.
Now he is looking to be the next running back to be the face of the offense. San Diego State has had two straight 2,000 yard rushers, Donnel Pumphrey and Rashaad Penny each broke the 2,000-yard mark in their senior seasons respectively. Can Washington keep the trend going in his junior season?
