National Anthem

Expect Roger Goodell to speak on the league’s plans regarding player protests of the National Anthem. Whether the league implements a new rule or standard for the anthem is unknown, but suggestions have been made by multiple parties regarding it.

One rule that could be discussed is having the playing of the anthem prior to teams taking the field, something the Steelers attempted last year. Many collegiate teams have been doing this for years, even before the idea of protesting became an issue.

Review of the collusion lawsuits from the NFLPA, Colin Kaepernick, and Eric Reid will also be a hot topic the league will likely deflect. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, one of the more powerful owners in the league, is reportedly being deposed in the Kaepernick collusion case, which alleges the league is making a conscious effort to keep him out of the league.
