New Rules

No, this isn’t about the overplaying of a song that’s been out for a year. It’s about the expected approval of kickoff rules the NFL hopes will minimize concussions.

As explained in a graphic published by the league, players will not get a running start and players will be aligned specifically across the field.

Twenty-one percent of the concussions suffered by players in the last two years happened on punt or kickoff returns. The league’s changes aren’t eliminating the kickoff, but simply eliminating the running start players have, hoping to decrease their momentum as the run 4.43 40s down the field.

A second rule the league will examine is the video review of ejections, which goes with the new lowering of the head rule and the ability to eject a player following a video review.
