A major need is being filled for both the Bills and Bengals in one trade

Buffalo Bills left tackle Cordy Glenn has been traded to the Cincinnati Bengals in a deal that involves first round draft picks.

A deal originally reported by ESPN’s Josina Anderson Monday afternoon will, according to NFL Network’s Peter Schrager, involve the Bills and Bengals swapping first round picks and picks later in the draft. Buffalo now owns the 12th overall pick and the 22nd pick from their prior deal with Kansas City.

Here are the official terms of the deal according to Schrager:

This move certainly looks as if the Bills are looking to draft their franchise quarterback after trading Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland for a third-round pick.

By trading Glenn the Bills will also clear themselves of $30 million in cap space over the next three seasons. This season will be the last in Glenn’s deal before Cincinnati could potentially release him without taking a massive cap hit.

Glenn had signed his five-year, $60 million prior to the 2016 season, but the cap space was too much for the Bills to carry. Buffalo had also cleared space this week

For Cincinnati, the deal looks fantastic considering they only moved back a couple of spots in the draft and picked up a Pro-Bowl left tackle. The Bengals lost Andrew Whitworth to Los Angeles in free agency and weren’t able to replace him with Cedric Ogbuehi or Jake Fisher last season.

The move shakes up not just NFL free agency, but the entire outlook of the 2018 NFL Draft.
