A major move will shake up the NFC next season with Michael Bennett going to the East Coast

Michael Bennett has been traded by the Seattle Seahawks along with a seventh round draft pick to the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles for a seventh-round draft pick and back-up wide receiver Marcus Johnson.

Carrying a large cap hit for the next three seasons Bennett makes an already fantastic Eagles pass rush even more dangerous. It also means former second-round pick Vinny Curry will likely be traded or released to clear room for a team already over the cap.

Look for veteran left tackle Jason Peters to either have his deal re-worked to diminish his cap hit. Bennett carries an $8.3 million hit this year with a deal signed through the 2020 season. Recording eight and a-half sacks last year, the 32-year-old Bennett still has much to offer a team already strong on defense.

Bennett will likely rotate with first round pick Derek Barnett opposite of Brandon Graham on the Eagles defensive line with Fletcher Cox and Timmy Jernigan on the inside. Philadelphia is also expected to have Chris Long back as added depth at defensive end.

Seattle appears to be headed towards a rebuilding phase with Bennett gone and cornerback Richard Sherman reportedly leaving in the near future. Multiple reports say Sherman has been saying his goodbyes to teammates over the last 24 hours, and he will meet with head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Schneider later on Wednesday.

Adding Johnson almost feels like a throw-away piece for Philadelphia after the undrafted free agent from 2016 caught just five passes on eight targets last year. Seattle needed wide receiver depth, but Johnson is hardly a world mover on offense.
