The Los Angeles Rams have reportedly traded pass rusher Robert Quinn to the Miami Dolphins in a blockbuster, pre free agency deal…

The Los Angeles Rams have been making some pretty huge trades over the past year, and have just made another. This time, former franchise player Robert Quinn is involved, and he’s reportedly going to the Miami Dolphins.

This is an interesting move, one that comes on the heels of the Rams acquiring talented but apparently troubled cornerback Marcus Peters from the Kansas City Chiefs.

The deal was first reported by Adam Schefter:

That seems like a really low price (not even a specific round) to pay for a guy that has 62.5 sacks in his career, but it’s probably accurate value given Quinn hasn’t been healthy the past few seasons.

Entering his age 28 season, Quinn has played just 29 games over the past three seasons, playing his last full season back in 2014.

The Rams got some great years out of him, including a first-team All Pro selection back in 2013 when he racked up a whopping 19 sacks.

Quinn was a big time prospect coming out of North Carolina, but didn’t play at all his last year in college and was drafted largely based on his athletic upside and one year of production at North Carolina.

That’s one rare instance where evaluators turned out to be right about a player, one who was considered a possible top overall pick that ended up being a really consistently good player despite not playing much college ball at all.

Quinn will now head to the Miami Dolphins along with his two years, over $25 million in total contract money left.

This is a decent gamble for the Dolphins, but one has to wonder where they are coming up with the finances because they just franchise tagged Jarvis Landry and had already reportedly been considering cutting defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh.

I have a feeling this isn’t the last time we’ll hear from the Dolphins in the trade department.
