Minnesota Vikings have a love triangle at quarterback
How will the Minnesota Vikings salvage their relationship with the quarterback position?
Those who have experienced being stuck in a love triangle knows it’s never fun, no matter which side of it you are on. With three competent NFL quarterbacks set to hit free agency in a matter of weeks, the Minnesota Vikings must find a solution that will ultimately benefit them in the long-run with a long-term relationship.
Teddy Bridgewater was the Vikings guy and they’ve loved him since day one. Trading a second and fourth-round pick to get back into the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft Minnesota and Bridgewater have been tied at the hip.
A devastating leg injury suffered less than two weeks before the 2016 NFL season cost Bridgewater nearly two years worth of playing time and, potentially, his long-term relationship with the Vikings.
For the most part Bradford did his job as the rebound guy coming off Bridgewater’s injury. The former Rookie of the Year started 15 games throwing 20 touchdowns to just five interceptions with a 7-8 record as the starter.
A bone bruise to his twice surgically repaired left knee limited Bradford to just two starts in 2017, but he was able to dress as the Vikings back up.
Then came the good guy who was rejected time and time again; Case Keenum. Released and/or traded by the Texans and Rams four times over five seasons, Keenum was the definition of a journeyman quarterback.

After being benched in favor of Jared Goff in Los Angeles Keenum signed a one-year contract with Minnesota worth $2 million.
When the Vikings needed him the most, Keenum delivered like the good guy he’s always been. Taking Minnesota to the NFC Championship game during a magical post-season run, Keenum went from being an afterthought to adored by fans across the league.
So now the Vikings are stuck with a difficult choice entering the offseason with no quarterbacks on their roster. Do they go with their first love, the rebound, or the nice guy who saved them?

Minnesota is likely going to franchise tag Keenum, and it wouldn’t surprise me if Bridgewater signs an incentive-laced deal. Bradford could find himself in Arizona, New York, or Cleveland as either a starter, veteran voice, or backup.
