Throw #2

To me, this was the most impressive throw/play of Mahomes’ season debut.

With a free rusher coming directly at him, Mahomes keeps his composure and re-sets his base while the defender is trying to take him down.

Of course, NFL rules of where quarterbacks can actually be hit may have affected how Will Parks attacked Mahomes on this play, but nonetheless, most quarterbacks would just eat the ball here, and live to play another down.

Mahomes wasn’t about to let an opportunity pass him by.

He’s got Parks draped on his waist, and all of a sudden it looks like Mahomes is actually able to set his feet properly and deliver a perfect strike — again, on a rope — to his receiver for a first down.

Find me other times where plays like this happen in the NFL, where the quarterback isn’t just throwing up a prayer of a throw. This is Mahomes, disregarding the fact that he’s being tackled, and making a pinpoint accurate throw.

Unbelievable.
