Kansas City has brought Darrelle Revis off his couch and back onto the football field

Many fans began the countdown to Canton for cornerback Darrelle Revis after he failed to sign with a team entering the 2017 season. At 32-years-old Revis has shown he’s at the tail end of his career and possibly that the motivation wasn’t fully there.

Kansas City must have found something left in Revis to bring him off his couch 11 weeks into the NFL season. The Chiefs have lost four of their last five games after looking like the best team in the AFC, and needed a fresh look on defense. Their fresh face is an old one now reunited with defensive coordinator Bob Sutton from their time with the Jets.

Revis is making $6 million from the New York Jets this season after they cut him last year. Many believed his contract would have to match the Jets dead cap to bring him back to the game, but it seems as if the love for the game is bringing Revis back for at least one more year.

In a 10 year career with the Jets, Buccaneers, and Patriots Revis has amassed 485 tackles, 137 passes defended, 29 interceptions, six forced fumbles and 12 fumble recoveries.

Revis won his only Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2014 before returning to the Jets.

Expect Revis to take over for Phillip Gaines and Terrance Mitchell at cornerback opposite Marcus Peters after Gaines took a beating from the Chiefs fanbase last weekend.
