New York’s quarterback carousel continues to turn going into the 2018 NFL Draft

Franchise quarterbacks and the New York Jets simply don’t come together well. Through the days of Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Ryan Fitzpatrick and many more New York is prepared to give up their latest projects in order to take on one more.

Despite having untested quarterbacks Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg on hand the Jets are interested in drafting another quarterback with more questions than answers.

Bleacher Report’s NFL draft lead writer Matt Miller reported Thursday that sources say the Jets “love” Wyoming quarterback Josh Allen. Concurrently, Miller says a source at Wyoming has seen the Jets take the most interest in Allen this year.

New York is currently projected to select 11th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, far too distant to have UCLA’s Josh Rosen land in their lap. Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph, and Louisville’s Lamar Jackson will also garner first round attention this offseason.

Should the Jets make a move at the quarterback position in the draft it’s likely Hackenberg and/or Petty will be moved for a late-round draft pick.

Baltimore could be a team willing to bring on a young quarterback to develop behind Joe Flacco.

The Los Angeles Chargers made a similar move to acquire former Ohio State quarterback and Buffalo Bills draft pick Cardale Jones as young insurance behind Phillip Rivers.

New England might be a dark horse when it comes to acquiring Hackenberg after trading Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett this year.
