Crazy Playoff Teams

If the season ended today…

…the Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Rams, and New Orleans Saints would be division champions, and the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans would make the playoffs as Wild Card teams.

You read all of that correctly.

If the season were to end right now, the Jacksonville Jaguars would be AFC South champions. The Los Angeles Rams would be NFC West champions. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints would have dethroned the two previous NFC Champions as NFC South champs.

What is going on?

More from NFL Mocks

Well, all of those teams are playing really well-rounded football at the moment, perhaps no one more so than the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams’ defense under Wade Phillips has been much improved, and the offense under Sean McVay has been extraordinary.

Jared Goff is making huge strides this season, and the Rams look like legit contenders out West.

The Jaguars have perhaps the best defense in football this season, but how far will their offense allow them to go?

The Buffalo Bills have exceeded any and all expectations for this season, and the Titans have been resilient through some injuries to Marcus Mariota.

The NFL is always an interesting league when it comes to parity, but this year has seen a number of teams with long rebuilding projects finally start coming to life.
