NFL Trade Deadline: Where Vontae Davis could land
Where could Indianapolis Colts cornerback Vontae Davis land at the 2017 NFL Trade Deadline? We explore some of the top options…
The NFL Trade Deadline is Tuesday, and the week leading up to Halloween has already been filled with surprise blockbuster moves. We examined, graded, and analyzed all of the trades right here at NFL Mocks.
And still more big names could be on the move. Specifically, the Indianapolis Colts could be active in trying to trade former Pro Bowl cornerback Vontae Davis, who has seemingly regressed over the past couple of seasons.
Adam Schefter of ESPN says he expects Davis to be traded by Tuesday’s deadline:
Who might want to trade for Vontae Davis?
Well, there are a number of contending teams that could use cornerback help, so let’s list some teams that might be interesting fits.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders are in a bad spot record-wise right now, but they could use a player like Davis on the back end of their defense.
Davis would just be a rental for the rest of the season, but could possibly help the Raiders turn their season around. The great news for the Raiders or any team looking into the possibility of Davis is, he won’t cost much in draft compensation, even though the Colts would definitely like to get some good value in return.
Oakland needs the help defensively, and might be willing to part with a mid-round pick.

The Rams have been wheeling and dealing this year, since they hired Sean McVay as their head coach. One area of their team that could use a little TLC is the secondary, even though they have played above average there so far this season.
Having a top outside corner like Davis would give the Rams some really nice depth on the back end, and would prove that this team is all-in for a run at the NFC West title this season.
Kansas City Chiefs
The big problem with the Chiefs would be staying in the green salary-cap wise, but if any contending team could use a top cornerback right now, it’s the Chiefs.
Kansas City has suffered some injuries in their secondary this year, namely a big one to Eric Berry. Having another veteran out there like Davis could be really nice, especially with the pass rush they are able to get up front.
Dallas Cowboys
We know the Cowboys are not going to be sellers at the trade deadline. They are always all-in for a championship. Getting Davis would seem to be an all-in move for Jerry Jones and company, who might need the help in the secondary over the long-haul of the season.
Philadelphia Eagles
I mean, why not at this point? The Eagles traded for Ronald Darby who got hurt, but they are seemingly the only team in the NFL that can get players from other GMs at a significantly low cost, while also selling high.
Perhaps the Eagles would feel that with Darby coming back from his injury and Davis on the other side, they would have a pair of cornerbacks that could really take advantage of their elite defensive front.
