Colin Kaepernick filing grievance against the NFL for collusion
Colin Kaepernick hasn’t played a regular season game since New Years Day
Colin Kaepernick has filed a grievance against the NFL claiming the owners have colluded to keep him out of the league. The former 49ers starter began the recent protests during the national anthem by not standing last season. Narratives have formed claiming the 29-year-old is more of a distraction than a productive player.
Kaepernick plans to release a statement regarding the grievance filing, likely before or during Sunday Night Football.
Kaepernick’s absence from the league has been suspicious considering his success under Jim Harbaugh in San Francisco replacing Alex Smith. A shoulder injury cost the NFC champion most of the 2015 season and multiple games the following year.

Preseason injuries to Ryan Tannehill and Joe Flacco sparked suspicion Kaepernick would be signed, but owners have been openly hesitant with signing him.
Many argue most backups, and even some starters, around the league, don’t possess the talent a healthy Kaepernick does. Brian Hoyer, who replaced Kaepernick this year in San Francisco, was benched for rookie C.J. Beathard on Sunday.
Miami signed former Bears quarterback Jay Cutler out of the television booth over Kaepernick, although head coach Adam Gase has a personal connection with Cutler.
Now with Aaron Rodgers out for most of, if not the entire, season with a broken collarbone speculation will grow regarding Kaepernick in Green Bay. Former UCLA starter Brett Hundley, who entered Sunday with three career NFL completions, was named Green Bay’s starter going forward with Joe Callahan as the backup.
